Sonnet To A Red-Shirted Ensign on Star Trek
December 12th 2006 21:00
This is a repost of a sonnet that I wrote for my "daily sonnet" blog. The old entry will be deleted.
Don’t go gently to the transporter pad
Kick, punch and scream and then run if you must
Or else you certainly will bite the dust
Trust me on this it is gonna be bad
It will be the worst day you’ve ever had
You will not make it off that planet’s crust
There’s no less of a chance that beer will rust
Than that you’ll survive to become a dad
Steal someone’s drink and then take a huge swig
Then swing the glass at an officer’s head
That should help keep you from becoming dead
Life is much safer when you’re in the brig
If no scheme to live longer seems to work
Make a speech in the style of Captain Kirk
Don’t go gently to the transporter pad
Kick, punch and scream and then run if you must
Trust me on this it is gonna be bad
It will be the worst day you’ve ever had
You will not make it off that planet’s crust
There’s no less of a chance that beer will rust
Than that you’ll survive to become a dad
Steal someone’s drink and then take a huge swig
Then swing the glass at an officer’s head
That should help keep you from becoming dead
Life is much safer when you’re in the brig
If no scheme to live longer seems to work
Make a speech in the style of Captain Kirk
