Lord of the Flies Sonnet
December 16th 2006 04:06
All play and no work makes Jack a bad boy
Maybe Merridew was bad all along
But he would not call himself bad - just strong
And he'd use his strength so he could enjoy
The thrill of the hunt - which served to annoy
Those with a sense of what's right and what's wrong
There so they hoped to escape, not destroy
Jack stole Piggy's specs, making him near blind
But his moral sight stayed better than most -
Kids who tired of catching pigs to roast
And made it a game to hunt humankind
At least two had died when at last help came
Would those who survived ever be the same?
If you would like me to write a sonnet about another well-known book or movie, let me know here and I'll try it. However, it probably won't be as fresh in my mind as The Lord of the Flies, because I read that book last week.

How about one about 'The Catcher in the Rye'?

I'm impressed with your ability to write a sonnet on such disparate topics.
Some great movies might be Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, or any of the Thin Man series. Especially the Thin Man series. I love Nick and Nora.

I thought of writing a sonnet in the style of Holden Caulfield, but he wouldn't write a sonnet.
