Barry Bonds Sonnet

January 12th 2007 00:32

I shall compare you to the Wal-Mart chain
As you continued to increase in size
Your level of wealth continued to rise
Yet more people thought of you with disdain
From what your bloodstream was thought to contain
Which would mean a legacy built on lies
Or part of it - it's hard to criticize
Your career when your arms looked somewhat plain

The steroid suspicions were bad enough
But now you failed a test - it's in the news
For uppers, and you opted to accuse
Your team mate, Sweeney, of owning the stuff

Now you're a liar or a thief and snitch

You shouldn't see one more major league pitch
