Sonnet from my 17,000 word book/poem
January 4th 2007 22:51
This was written for, and is part of, the giant book/poem that I wrote in 2005. However, it doesn't have much to do with the plot, such that one exists, so it wouldn't be a potential spoiler like the other sections of the poem that are written in sonnet form. And here it is:
My feelings are still quite hard to express
To let you know I did often intend
But feared that I might lose you as a friend
If all my emotions I did confess
Part of me thinks that I'll become a mess
If what we've got right now came to an end
But each day it gets harder to pretend
That not having more does not cause distress
Most times that I see you it makes me smile
For some reason that reaction's delayed
I can't erase the grin later that day
You might see it if you stayed for a while
Now that I have laid my heart bare like this
Is it too much to ask you for a kiss?
My feelings are still quite hard to express
To let you know I did often intend
But feared that I might lose you as a friend
If all my emotions I did confess
Part of me thinks that I'll become a mess
If what we've got right now came to an end
But each day it gets harder to pretend
That not having more does not cause distress
For some reason that reaction's delayed
I can't erase the grin later that day
You might see it if you stayed for a while
Now that I have laid my heart bare like this
Is it too much to ask you for a kiss?
