Sonnet Inspired by Alcohol
October 13th 2006 04:29
How much of this was inspired by personal experience? Feel free to guess.
The geyser inside me may spray no more
But inside my head the hammers still pound
I crossed a line after my fourth was downed
Of 151’s presence I am sure
They were concocted behind a closed door
You might’ve heard judgment is rarely sound
Where a single sober soul can’t be found
And that’s why my appetite is so poor
No measure of pleasure is worth this hurt
But did last night bring me pleasure at all?
Maybe I’m lucky that I can’t recall
Events between 2 and waking by dirt
But I wasn’t arrested. Man, that’s great!
And quite enough reason to celebrate
If questions are asked, they will be answered.
